The most talked about issue during the Oscar award ceremony is not who wins what, but who is wearing what – that is celebrity fashion at its best or worst, depending on your personal choice. And yet the commentators would have us believe that the current celebrity fashion displayed during the show is the ultimate in dressing.

Every year there is a celebrity fashion roundup at the post award parties. The outfits and accessories that showcase the celebrity fashion, range from the exquisite to the bizarre. Mostly, the outfits and accessories that comprise what is known as celebrity fashion are specially made by designers for that particular evening. How many of those celebrity fashion statements would be worn during a regular party.

And yet, the market for copies of the range that comprises the year's celebrity fashion is growing at a rapid pace. Common people love to wear similar outfits as this brings a feeling of being part of the same circle – not realising that in majority of the cases, celebrity fashion looks good on the celebrities. The effort and cost that celebrities undergo to present themselves as the celebrity fashion icons are just out of reach of the common person.

In reality if you ask, most of the celebrities would claim that they are far more comfortable in casual clothes and basic party wear rather that the paraphernalia that constitutes celebrity fashion.

Paris Fashion Week had some interesting insights as to the trends for Fall/Winter 2012. One of the biggest trends that emerged at the Paris Fashion Week was feathers! On showcase were vast froths of pink plumage by Alexander McQueen. Zuhair Murad embraced the feathery trends of the season with cocktail dresses decorated in sequins and feathers. Fashion house, Louis Vuitton had Edwardian-influenced creations with feathers and jewels. There were also many embellished blouses with lace and feather appliqués too.
Another amongst the trends noticed was that many shows had an Eastern influence. Trends included Japanese blossom motifs embroidered onto chiffon blouses, deconstructed kimonos, kimono shapes and Eastern-inspired prints. The trends indicated the popularity of the colour green. Chanel had some lovely animal motif sweaters in brighter shades and lime green on showcase and the Kenzo show began with several moss green pieces too.
Fashion trends come and go, but the dazzle and sparkle of jewels can never go out of style. Chanel got it right with their mineral-themed show which had models decked up with jewel-adorned eyebrows walking on a runway made up of granite. Vivienne Westwood showcased beautiful jewelled Elizabethan-style tops. Bejewelled jacket buttons and elaborate brooches were seen at the Louis Vuitton show.

The following are the most wearable runway makeup trends for this Spring. Bold lips and neutral eyes when it comes to makeup are the favourites of many designers such as Prabal Gurung, Mugler, Betsey Johnson, etc. This look is all about keeping the rest of the makeup to an absolute minimal while still keeping it punchy with a vibrant or dark statement lip color. Alternatively, navy smoky eyes are quite popular and if done well, look amazing. Black and grey smokey eyes are passé, designers this season have moved towards soft, smokey navy eyes which would look perfect for a night out. For a darker look one can use a double punch of navy eyeliner and deep blue eye shadow. The runways indicated a great preference for bronzed skin, which obviously sums up the season of Spring too. For the bronzed look, makeup needs to be applied high up on the cheekbones, which gives a perfectly polished look. With a bronzer in your makeup kit, you wouldn't need anything else except for a swipe of chapstick and some light mascara. Spring being the season of new beginnings; makeup trends are full of color and vibrancy. Orange, red, turquoise, and baby pink makeup for the eyelids can be very attractive too.
